Christmas Teas 2009
Home for the Holidays was the theme for the Ainsley House 2009 Christmas Teas and as usual, the volunteers, decorators, board members and Museum Staff did a wonderful job. Every year I look forward to attending the teas with friends, not only for the special time that we get together, but also to see what wonderful ideas the designers have come up with to decorate the house.
The tea this year was as stunning as I have come to expect. Tables were set with red and green table cloths, bone china tea cups & saucers and beautiful plate stands. Our place settings included a beautifully produced program and tasty cookie favor. Shortly after sitting down, our volunteer hosts brought a silver tea pot full of tea and advised that if we wanted more tea, just lift the lid. Then arrived our plates of yummy food.
My friend and I settled in and enjoyed our sandwiches and treats, chatted on topics wide and varied. Before we knew it, it was time to tour the Ainsley House. Each year wonderful designers and volunteers turn the Ainsley House into a Holiday treat. Every year it is something different. We always enjoy the creativity and inginuity of the designers - they provide us inspiriation for years to come.
The tour of the house culminates in a visit to the Christmas Boutique which has so ably been put together by Pat Laufman, a long time volunteer of the museum. Every year she does a wonderful job, and every year seems to outdo herself. I was saddened to hear that this will be her last year with the boutique, but she has done a wonderful job for so many years, she definitely deserves a break and our heartfelt thanks for a job well done for so many years. Thank you Pat.
So it just leaves me to say a huge THANK YOU to all the volunteers, designers and the Museum Staff that give their time and effort to put on this event. Without them, it would not be possible.
